Advocating for our children in public school districts.
“Whoever among you sees an evil action, then let him change it with his hand [by taking action]; if he cannot, then with his tongue [by speaking out]; and if he cannot, then with his heart – and that is the weakest of faith.” [Sahih Muslim]
tools for Parent Advocacy and support
This initiative is currently for New Jersey Public Schools ONLY.
This is an incident report to document anti-muslim, anti- Arab discrimination in the public school system. Report incidents by school staff, curriculum, observed bias, or the school's mishandling of incidents with other students. The bias or racism could be directed at any individual by the school, such as students, parents, staff or community members.
TWM will maintain your confidentiality and reach out to support your specific case as necessary. Even if you do not wish to take any further actions with your incident, it's important to still report and collect the data on how many of these types of events occur in public schools to help our communities to advocate for equality and justice.
Disclaimer: We are not lawyers; if you need legal assistance please let us know if you need help finding a lawyer. This initiative is mainly for collecting data on anti-Muslim/Arab bias and connecting you with the community for support if you need it. Your personal information will never be released without your permission. However, the statistical data (numbers of biased incidents) will be shared as needed.
Utilize these letters at the beginning of the school year to advocate on your child’s behalf. Make any edits you feel necessary to make sure your child and their identity are seen and heard in the public school space.
In the folder you will find letters on representation and holidays to be sent to your Board of Education, the superintendent, the principal, and your students teachers.
