A Poem for Sudan By Razan

Sudan is everything to me, on April 15th I heard

Gunshots and a couple hours later the fighter jets the RSF used us as human shields,

but when they decided they wanted our home

they kicked us out with weapons,

From there we saw the most horrific sights of bodies.

And

Then came the news

Of our family members being killed by the RSF,

My best friend was recently killed,

The man I thought I would marry was also killed.

In the depths of Sudan, where sorrow has thrived,

The RSF, a force with no remorse, has arrived.

They rape and kill, leaving behind broken souls,

Committing acts so vile, their cruelty knows no controls.

Women, once beacons of strength, now live in fear,

Their bodies violated, their cries no one will hear.

Children, innocent and pure, bear the scars of war,

For in their hearts, the RSF's violence forevermore.

Men, protectors stripped of power, now bow their heads,

As the RSF unleashes terror, desecrating their homesteads.

Guns pointed at elders, a blatant disregard,

For traditions, for heritage, for the values they discard.

How dare they claim to be Sudanese, these agents of ire,

Their actions betray our land's spirit, fueling the fire.

They mock our ways, they desecrate our pride,

Leaving us with shattered dignity, as we wonder how they justify.

Every act they commit tears at our fabric, with every breath,

Their deeds against humanity summon only grief and death.

We raise our voices, a plea to a higher power we make,

For justice to be served, for these perpetrators' souls to quake.

In this struggle, we hold firm to our Sudanese core,

Unyielding, united, against the darkness that forever tore.
